How to Clean Reusable Electrodes

Do not leave the GEL in the cavity after use. The electrode cavity must be left clean and dry. If GEL is left in cavity, the Ag-AgCl electrode disk could degrade quickly with time. This degradation happens because the electrode surface is somewhat porous. The electrode surface is made porous to promote good conductivity to the GEL.

To clean the reusable electrode, use a cotton swab or toothbrush with tap water.

Use any lab cleaner with pumice (such as Ajax) with cotton swab or toothbrush to remove any dark residue from electrode surface.

Use Hydrogen Peroxide solution (2-3%) to brighten electrode surface (optional) or to sterilize electrode. Do not place the electrode in solution, but simply clean the electrode surface using a cotton swab.

Dry electrode off completely before storage.
